Choosing your exterior
Canadian red cedar is the traditional choice. It's naturally resistant to moisture and insects, weathers to a silver-grey patina if left untreated, and carries the aroma most people associate with a sauna.
Wood-plastic composite (WPC) trades the natural look for lower upkeep. It doesn't need sealing or staining and holds its finish through freeze-thaw cycles, which makes it a practical pick in harsher climates.
Before you order
- Measure the site. Confirm the footprint fits your pad, deck, or patio with clearance on all sides.
- Check the base. These need a level, load-bearing surface — concrete, a reinforced deck, or compacted gravel. Soft ground won't do.
- Plan the power. An outdoor-rated supply is required. Confirm your electrical situation before ordering.
- Plan the delivery path. Freight drops at the threshold, so think through how the crated unit gets from the driveway to its final position.
